Filson Field Bags in Film: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (Eastwood 1997)
Friend Vaughn W. (of bike collection fame) sent me these cameo views of a Filson Medium Field Bag from the film, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (Eastwood 1997). Aside from the bag and Johnny Mercer/jazz soundtrack, I don't remember much about the movie itself. Worth revisiting?

i'm pretty sure that in "blow" johnny depp as george jung was carrying around a filson rucksack. i remember wondering if that bag was authentic to the film's period. i tried to find a picture online to verify but was not able, so this might not be correct.
Hmm. I had planned to skip that movie but I'll have to check it out now. Filson rucsacks (in their current form) were a late 80s/early 90s creation, I believe (Filson experts, let me know).
i've been buying filson since i was a kid. i don't remember seeing that in their catalog until the late '90s and that's why it look weird to me, but i thought maybe it was a re-introduced product. as far as the movie goes, i would skip it - it was terrible.
Yes, late 80's would be appx.
